Asheville’s Award-Winning Scottish Supergroup From the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, an area historically settled by Highland Scots who made their music part of Appalachian culture, comes a new American Scottish supergroup: GLENCOE. Glencoe boasts a two-time National Scottish Fiddle Champion and a four-time National Scottish Harp Champion among its members, and is one of the only North American groups to incorporate all three of Scotland’s national instruments (bagpipes, fiddle and harp) in its lineup. Adopting the name of both a historic village in Scotland and an early settlement near Asheville (now part of Pisgah National Forest), Glencoe honors the Scottish connection with the group’s mountain home.
